Bright Crop is a careers initiative that inspires new young talent to consider working in the agri-food sector by raising awareness of the opportunities available. It operates UK wide through an ambassador programme and the provision of up-to-date and accurate information about the industry for teachers and careers advisers.
The Bright Crop Ambassador network connects agri-food businesses with schools across the UK Contact with real employers, who are enthusiastic and passionate about their own careers, has been shown to inspire pupils and challenge their pre-conceived ideas about jobs. By sharing their own experiences, Ambassadors showcase the range of career opportunities available within agri-food and demonstrate the diverse skills and qualifications needed to achieve and exceed in an exciting and innovative UK industry.
Agri-food is a wide-ranging and fast moving sector, which has to date been under represented in Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) resources. Bright Crop reverses this trend by informing teachers about industry structures and pathways, using a case study based approach that draws on real roles available in agribusinesses.
