Growing Devon Schools

Growing Devon Schools (GDS) is a partnership of organisations with the shared aim to support schools in Devon in providing outdoor learning and learning around the food cycle. Our partnership organisations include schools, organisations and independent learning providers.

Our partnership aims are to:

  • Inspire people in discovering their connections to nature
  • Foster health and wellbeing
  • Help to develop skills for life and inspire a sense of curiosity and creativity
  • Identify and work within schools needs and priorities in relation to outdoor learning
  • Advocate for the importance of outdoor learning
  • Work with individuals and communities
  • Our work currently includes termly teacher forum days, which bring teachers and other trainers together to share skills and learning; training courses for teachers in using the outdoor classroom; networking opportunities between schools and outdoor/ food learning providers.
