This wetland reserve is an excellent place to see pink-footed geese and whooper swans during the winter. In the summer, the meadows attract breeding wading birds, including lapwings and redshanks. On the small islands in the loch, Sandwich and common terns and a variety of wildfowl breed. The Loch of Strathbeg is home to many different migrant birds throughout the year.The visitor centre observation room offers a panoramic view of the reserve.
