Sandwell Valley Country Park

Sandwell Valley Country Park

An area of almost 2,000 acres of farms, lakes, woods and grassland at the heart of the Black Country conurbation which includes to Local Nature Reserves.  Sandwell Park Farm and Forge Mill Farm lie within its borders and the RSPB leases a small 25 acre corner as a nature centre in the eastern side of the Valley.

The countryside rangers run a programme of educational visits alongside the farms, which are available for a wide age range from KS1 to further education and are linked to the changing needs of the national national curriculum.  A varied guided walks and events programme runs throughout the year, covering such diverse topics as fungi, shearing, coppice crafts, bushcraft and wildlife walks.  As well as purely environmental visits, we can arrange split visits, giving schools the opportunity to experience farming and the wider countryside on the same visit.

The RSPB also offers a programme of educational visits on the small area they control, details of which can be found on the RSPB Sandwell Valley website.
