Glyncornel is a unique and friendly place to stay when visiting the Valleys of Rhondda, Cynon and Taff Ely. The house is perched on a hillside amidst ancient oak woodland, enjoying views over the scenic Rhondda and provides an excellent base for field studies. Built in the early 1900's as a mine managers home, Glyncornel Environmental Centre now offers excellent hostel style accommodation for 58, teaching facilities as well as housing a small museum. Colleges, schools and community groups are all welcome.
NOTE: The Council’s Environmental Education Service is moving from Glyncornel Environmental Centre to Dare Valley Country Park from 1st September 2006. A range of day or half day visit programmes will be available for each Key Stage as well as residential field studies and the new ‘Inspired for Life’ programme (KS2). However we still intend to be able to offer day visit programmes at Glyncornel, on selected days.
