This farm rears cattle for sale to other beef farmers who finish the animals and sell the beef through farm shops. Some of it has been a family farm for 300 years. It is all grass, natural vegetation or woodland, with half designated as SSSI. It is a superb natural habitat for numerous species including the rare Marsh Fritillary butterfly. The farm occupies a flood plain in the North Lake District with over 10 miles of ditches and waterways. The written history goes back to the 18th Century with good examples of old field systems.
