Beauvale Abbey Farm

The Carthusian priory at Beauvale was founded in 1343 and comprised of a church, a great cloister and gardens, the remains of which are visible today. One of only nine priories of the Carthusian Order in England, these remains represent a very rare & important site. The fishponds and orchard are being restored through the Higher Level Stewardship scheme to retain their historic character. A wetland area with ponds is also available for study activities and a bird hide will be constructed here.
