Bonfield Ghyll Farm

Bonfield Ghyll is a traditional hill farm in the North York Moors National Park. We are tenants of the National Trust and we are surrounded by open SSSI heather moorland on which we have grazing rights for our sheep flock, that comprises approximately 400 hefted Swaledale and Cheviot cross ewes. We are not connected to mains water or electricity; we get our water from a spring and electricity from a micro hydropower screw generator. Some things to see include guided farm walks, talks and demonstrations, renewable energy, lambing, shearing, dry stone walling, upland habitats and a variety of upland birds.
