Woodhow Farm is a traditional Lakeland farm (with a twist) in the beautiful Wasdale valley. The farmer Richard has been breeding rare breeds of goat and pigs for many years, as well as tending a fell flock. He has recently acquired a herd of highland cattle to help restore some of the special habitats on his farm.
The farm has a number of Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) habitats. These include wet woodland, fen/reedbeds, species rich grassland and a large area of valley mire. Woodhow Tarn sits in the middle of the farm with a mulitude of birds visiting throughout the year. A purpose built hide is to be constructed by September 2011.
