Yelland Cross is a 39-ha mixed farm growing organic vegetables, and grassland for the livestock enterprise. The grassland is a mixture of short-term grass/clover leys and old permanent grass. They started converting to organic production methods in the spring of 1997 - the whole farm is now fully organic. A conservation management programme started in the autumn of 1998. The aim is to improve the landscape and wildlife habitats on the farm with the added benefit of improving the food sources for the greater horseshoe bat.
