Healthy Eating Week 2017

Over 9,500 nursery practitioners and school teachers have registered for BNF Healthy Eating Week 2017 - representing over 4 million children!

The Week, 12-16 June, is devised to encourage children to make healthier choices by providing schools with engaging and relevant resources and activities, which, it is hoped, will motivate children to consider, and make improvements to, their health, diet and physical activity. It focuses on building knowledge around healthy eating and wellbeing, but also celebrates learning about food, farming, cooking and physical activity.

To support a number of resources have been developed, including a planning guide, challenge posters, videos, a board game, active learning resources, and a guide about measuring impact. Schools can also get involved online through joining cook-a-long sessions, as well as joining a farmer to learn more about potatoes!

Schools are also set a different health challenge each day of the week, including have breakfast, have 5 A Day, drink plenty and get active. The fifth challenge is to try something new, which we hope would include visiting a farm, growing fruit and veg or trying a new food.
