Hybu Cig Cymru

As the levy body responsible for the beef, lamb and pork sectors in Wales, Hybu Cig Cymru – Meat Promotion Wales (HCC) works closely with schools and other organisations active in promoting education in food and farming.

Working to engage with children and young people on how food is produced, how red meat can be part of a healthy balanced diet, to encourage skills in cooking, and to discuss the traceability and sustainability of food, is a key part of HCC’s mission.

HCC produces resources to support this activity. For the new Welsh curriculum, a large range of resources have been prepared in consultation with teachers and examination boards, including activities, lesson plans and fun activities.

HCC also works alongside a wide range of public and voluntary organisations, to provide training for teachers, to encourage children to gain a greater knowledge of farming and food, to go directly into schools, and to distribute materials related to cooking, nutrition, farming and the environment.

Most of HCC’s resources are available bilingually:-
in English at www.redmeathub.wales
in Welsh at www.hwbcigcoch.cymru
