The Institute for Agriculture and Horticulture (TIAH)

The Institute for Agriculture and Horticulture (TIAH) is the professional body for agriculture and horticulture. We champion skills, careers and professionalism and are committed to highlighting the remarkable potential in these industries. Our website showcases comprehensive careers profiles and vibrant videos, highlighting real people across a diverse array of roles in farming and growing. We partner with other organisations to guide parents and careers influencers, helping them understand the wide range of exciting opportunities available in our industry. Our collaborative efforts have produced a spotlight section in Career Map’s magazine that celebrates the industry and dispels common misconceptions.

TIAH supports individuals at any stage of their career journey, offering a wealth of resources for those aged 16 and above. Our innovative online Learning Hub provides personalised training across all areas of the industry to support members’ career progression. We also offer a suite of helpful toolkits and engaging webinars for both employees and employers, providing time-saving resources and expert advice on everything from how farms can offer work experience placements to making the most of your opportunities when applying for jobs.

At TIAH, we also offer Essential Skills Learning Paths through our Learning Hub. These paths are designed to provide a solid foundation of core knowledge for new entrants, operators, supervisors and managers in agriculture and horticulture. Comprising a series of bite-size modules, these paths allow individuals to develop or refresh their knowledge and skills as needed. Our Learning Hub tracks progress, enabling learners to study at their own pace and receive a certificate upon completion. This certification is stored in a secure Learning Record, making it easy to evidence abilities for job interviews or compliance inspections. From improving hazard recognition and risk management to mastering essential skills for safe agricultural work, our Essential Skills Learning Paths are tailored to meet the needs of today's farmers and growers.
