You probably know Waitrose as a supermarket – maybe you've even shopped in one of our 320 shops. But did you know we're part of the John Lewis Partnership, the UK's largest employee-owned business? Everyone who works for us owns a share of it, which is why everyone who works for us goes out of their way to share their knowledge and passion for good food. It's the reason we're The Home of Food Lovers, serving our customers with delicious products, inspiration and expertise for more than 125 years.
When you truly love food, you can't help loving everything behind it – the places it comes from, the people it's made by, and the welfare of the animals. That's why we work so closely with our British farmers and suppliers, why we source responsibly, and why we've long led the way on animal welfare and sustainable farming methods. We even have our own farm, the Leckford Estate in Hampshire, where we farm hand in hand with nature using regenerative methods to conserve water, improve soil health and enhance biodiversity.
Through our partnership with Countryside Classroom, we want to help the next generation of food lovers get closer to all of this. We think every child should understand more about the food they eat – how it gets there, the role farming and the natural environment play, and how they can get involved – whether that's growing something for the first time, or just asking better questions about what's on their plate.
If you would like to visit one of our shops with your school group, please contact the team in your local store to find out what they can offer. For all other queries, send an email to: [email protected].
