The Ashridge Estate comprises over 1800ha of woodlands, commons and grasslands along the main ridge of the Chiltern hills in Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire. The Estate is rich in history, from the Iron Age hill fort at Ivinghoe Beacon to Roman, medieval and more modern remains. A wide variety of wildlife can bee seen, including fallow deer, badgers, woodpeckers and some scarce species of birds, insects and plants. The area surrounding the Bridgewater Monument forms the focus for many walks and sites for a range of educational activities.
