Education plays a big part in Alvis Bros' farming activities. Following informal visiting arrangements with local schools and youth groups in the 1980’s and 1990’s Alvis Bros joined forces with a number of other local farmers and associated bodies and formed FarmLink with the sole intention of communicating farming, food, countryside and environmental issues to school children. Farmlink Education aims to enable children to understand where their food comes from and the links between food production and the environment. The visits can all be linked to the National Curriculum and pre-prepared lesson plans are available on our website www.farmlink.org.uk. Visits can be arranged to see dairy or arable farming, cheese production, chicken farms, woodlands or hill farming with sheep.
