Little Hidden Farm, formerly part of the Chilton Estate, became an independent holding in 1982, when bought by Bill and Sue Acworth who made it their family home and quickly engaged in a programme of tree and hedge planting which was further encouraged by the introduction of the Countryside Stewardship Scheme in the early 1990s. At that time some 30 acres of arable land were sown with a diverse mixture of grass and wildflower seeds, which are now well established as very species rich pasture and within some of which new woodland has been planted to produce some spectacularly valuable habitats for mammals, birds, butterflies and other invertebrates.
The new woodland has been augmented by an innovative planting of hardwood trees within arable land to produce a signifIcant area of agro-forestry where trees, crops and livestock co-habit.
