This is a secluded and peaceful spot, where intensive farming practices have passed by, leaving the land to remain the same as it was over a hundred years ago. A friendly welcome is offered to groups of young people and adults, who would like to follow the historical trail, learn about biodiversity and try pond dipping. Ham Mill is a ‘small’ holding, which used to sustain the miller and his family over the past 400 years. Today the land is managed extensively as part a Countryside Stewardship Scheme so as to benefit native flora and fauna, particularly Greater Horseshoe bats, through the restoration of historic field boundaries and a focused grazing regime.
