Aston Hall Farm

A well known and visited area of limestone grassland situated south of the village of Castleton. Visitors can park in Castleton and enter the land via a stile. Peveril Castle overlooks the dale and the vegetation on the daleside shows subtle variation according to aspect. At the farm itself seasonal activities include lambing (April/May), shearing (June) and farm machinery use. Nearby quarries and dales could offer further opportunity for studies of mineral extraction for older students.
