Hammerwich Hall was formally operated on a mixed farming system, growing mainly cereals, oilseed rape and potatoes and having an 18 month beef system. Since being accepted into CSS the aim is to regenerate the arable land to traditional lowland hay meadows. A raised water level will be introduced to attract breeding birds such as lapwings, which were a feature of the farm in the past.
