The farm was bought by the current owners in 1968 for market gardening purposes. Historically the high grade agricultural land with irrigation was used to grow sprouts, onions, potatoes and other vegetable crops typical of the area. In the late 1980s gravel extraction was started on the site. The owners are currently on the third phase of this extraction, with the old quarries being sensitively restored for leisure and wildlife purposes. The farm has easy access from the A1 and is very pleasant with water situated throughout the site. Toilets and a teaching barn are central on the farm. Current land use on the site includes trout and coarse fishing, some agriculture, hay meadows and woodland.
