Landway Farm

Landway Farm

The farm is a fruit farm growing commercial crops of pears, apples and raspberries. Also on the site are traditional orchards of Bramleys, Cox’s Orange Pippin, and a nut platt. There is a flock of sheep in these orchards. The old coldstore is no longer in use. However, the old packing shed is used by ‘Hyders Forge’ who make ornamental ironwork. The business has been in the village for several hundred years. At the lower end of the farm is an old wood and a meadow which will soon be restored to a traditional country meadow. The site is believed to have been terraced by the Romans for growing grapes. It is the only terraced farm in the area.
