Farne Islands

The islands provide a summer home for more than seventeen different species of seabird, including puffin, kittiwake, eider duck, guillemot, fulmar and tern; also a base for a large colony of grey seals; St Cuthbert died on Inner Farne in AD 687 - chapel built to his memory in fourteenth century and restored in 1845.
