The purpose-built environmental education and watersports centre is a wonderfully tranquil place in the city. Based at a decommissioned reservoir, there is an all year round wildlife interest from winter water birds to summer damselflies.
The West Reservoir along with the New River, a specially created pond and a reed-bed form an amazing wetland resource and the adjacent grasslands, scrub, hedgerow and wildlife garden are of considerable educational and wildlife value and provide a range of habitats to study.
