Comprising almost 24,711 acres/10,000 ha of 'blanket bog', the deep peatlands of Forsinard lie at the heart of the internationally important Flow Country of Caithness and Sutherland. Birds including golden plovers, dunlins and merlins breed on the reserve. We are conserving the bogs while encouraging limited access via our visitor centre at Forsinard railway station, a bog pool trail, regular guided walks and road-side viewing.
