There are 34 hectares of lowland heath with adjacent ponds and wet woodland within a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Rich and varied flora and fauna such as silver studded blue and grayling butterflies, sand lizard, Dartford warbler, emperor dragonfly, sika deer, sundew, butterwort and early marsh orchid can be seen. This site is of industrial archaeological interest.
