Magdalen Hill Down

A 55-acre chalk downland nature reserve run by Butterfly Conservation. Part is ancient downland that has been undergoing restoration since 1989 by removal of scrub and introducing grazing. The other area is a new downland recreation scheme of 32 acres seeded in 1997 with native grasses and wild flowers. Both areas are botanically rich. Fine hedgerows and trees too. Rich wildlife area-over 30 species of butterflies. Superb landscape views and archaeological features.
