Lydford Gorge

Lydford Gorge

Formed around 450,000 years ago when the River Lyd was ‘captured’ by a smaller neighbouring stream which wore away the rocks to make a deep ravine scooped into a succession of potholes; 90-feet White Lady Waterfall; habitat for a variety of wildlife. Lydford can be very slippery. Sensible boots or shoes are essential.
