Kitley Caves

Kitley is a mixture of woodlands and an overgrown water meadow, with a disused railway embankment running through the middle. The River Yealm forms a boundary on one side. The caves are formed of limestone and there are limekilns, 2 quarry faces and an old orchard. Stone Age artefacts have been found on the site, along with the remains of elephants, hyenas and bears.
