Hardcastle Crags and Gibson Mill

Hardcastle Crags and Gibson Mill

Mixed woodland on the steep sides of Hebden Water and Crimsworth Dean Beck; the landscape, typical of this Pennine area, consists of clough woodland, steep valleys, small walled fields, and then open dissected moorland plateau rising to 450m. The area is rich in flora and fauna and is the home of the hairy wood ant, which lives here in huge anthills. Gibson Mill's impressive display of sustainable technology includes water turbines, solar panelled roof, and log burning devices.
