The volunteer-run museum offers a unique underground experience on the site of the original Loftus Ironstone mine in Skinningrove. Knowledgeable guides take you through the site, including a walk down in to the North Drift mine tunnel. A hands-on, multi-sensory visit that lets you see at first hand how Victorian miners worked to win the ironstone that fed the furnaces of Teesside and changed the landscape and local economy for ever.
