Castle Nook is a 400ha upland mixed cattle and sheep farm on the Northumberland / Cumbria border. There are several historic buildings including a listed bastle and the remains of Whitley Castle Roman Fort, a scheduled monument. Permissive access links to the Pennine Way, which runs through the farm, and to the South Tyne Trail. The programme of works under the HLS scheme includes tree planting and moorland restoration to encourage black grouse.
