Pattiland Farm

The farm is just under 20 hectares/50 acres and has been permanent pasture. Over the last six years we have planted trees for coppice to provide firewood; we generate our own electricity, partly from solar panels and plan to add wind turbines as part of our sustainable life style. We have planted five acres of orchards (apples, pears plums and cherries). We grow flowers, fruit and vegetables to sell in the farm shop. From the land we produce hay for animal feed and have cattle grazing during the Summer months. We are restoring ten acres of culm grassland as valuable wetland habitat. The RSPB Survey found that we have 5 red species of birds: skylark, house sparrow, song thrush and bullfinch. We also have a Registered Historic Site which is being surveyed by a local archaeology club.
