Langaford Farm

Langaford Farm, in the parish of Ashwater, is situated near to Halwill village, just off the A3079 between Dunsland Cross and Halwill Junction. It is a large farm of 250 hectares with views to Dartmoor and Exmoor. The Grade 11 listed farmhouse is part of the small hamlet of Langaford said to date back to the mediaeval period. Two historic droveways lead from the farm onto Langaford Moor where two Bronze-age barrows can be seen. There are 30 acres of culm grassland that support a wide range of habitats and species. The farm was surveyed in 2008 and is now designated as a County Wildlife Site. Livestock on the farm consists of a herd of 400 Holstein Friesian cows and their calves, 100 beef cattle, and 200 Suffolk-cross sheep.
