Michael & Mary Davenport have farmed at Cote Hill for 30 years. It is 184acres growing mainly grass to support the 70 cow herd of Friesians and Red Poll cows and young stock. Twenty acres of maize is grown for winter feed for the cows and twenty acres grow winter wheat and barley trials for breeding new varieties. Fifty acres of grassland are farmed extensively providing grazing for the cows but also a habitat that encourages skylark, lapwings and curlew to breed on the farm. Twenty per cent of the milk produced is made into cheese on the farm.
