Hayling Golf Club

Hayling Golf Club has long been managed to benefit wildlife, and includes rare habitats that form part of a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). Of particular note are the tall gorse bushes, favoured by the rare Dartford Warbler, and the vegetated shingle beach, with many unusual coastal plants. The lake in front of the clubhouse was the excavation site for the gravels needed to build the Mulberry Harbours used during the Second World War, and today the fresh water lake is host to numerous species of birds and rare plant life. Bordering the lake is a Scheduled Ancient Monument - a Second World War Heavy Gun Battery.
