The site is a traditional flood meadow beside the River Hamble. The landowner has embarked on a programme to restore the channels and sluices which were traditionally used to control water levels on the site. The site has historical interest in that the site could be linked to the historic Bishop Waltham Palace. It is a Hampshire Heritage Site.
