Goodens Farm

Goodens farm is a 160 hectare dairy and beef farm that contains a wealth of valuable wildlife habitats. The 70 dairy cows graze wet grassland around Stoborough which is important habitat for wading birds such as lapwing, redshank and snipe and the very rare large marsh grasshopper. The pedigree Hereford beef cattle graze the steep banks of the Purbeck ridge and help maintain this as species rich chalk grassland, allowing many species of flowering plants and invertebrates to thrive there. As well as being a farmer, Phil Randall is a qualified teacher in dairy management at Kingston Maurward Agricultural College.
