Copt Hill

The site consists of a 5ha former arable field on Lower Greensand soils on which semi-improved grassland has developed as a result of having been within a 10 year Countryside Stewardship Scheme. The grassland has been managed by forage harvesting annually in late summer to encourage the spread of typical acid grassland plant species such as the locally uncommon sheepsbit scabious. Green winged orchid has also recently been recorded from the site.
