Gibside is a 600acre landscape forest garden with majestic woodlands, parkland and riverside habitats to explore and a variety of historic buildings and ruins to discover. 

This beautiful rural retreat lies on the urban fringe of Gateshead and welcomes groups of all ages for a memorable day visit or inspiring residential stay in our Learning & Discovery Centre (a recently refurbished 250 year old Stables block).    A wide range of exciting activities are available that can be combined to create a personalised itinerary.  Our activities unravel the history of Gibside, explore our habitats, discover our wildlife, use our natural resources for art and develop team skills. Forest School sessions and John Muir Award are also available. Sustainability issues are also included in our packages.   Visitors can reconnect with nature while on a journey of self discovery and personal development while relaxing and enjoying this tranquil setting.
