‘Bring Yer Wellies’ is at Ricroft Nurseries and it’s the home of Nigel, an experienced commercial grower, his wife Melissa & our 7 year old son Fergus.
Our large greenhouses provide unique indoor classroom facilities for primarily teaching children about planting & growing and the adjacent outdoor areas incorporate an amphibian pond, coniferous and deciduous woodland and a large wildlife pond, all set in open countryside. Our activities will meet your individual school and curriculum requirements aiming at Key Stages 1&2 science related subjects. They are practical, sensory and involve hands-on participation and your visit will be tailor-made to complement your teaching in the classroom. We’re passionate about getting children outdoors and to have an understanding, admiration and respect for plants, animals and nature and to respect the balance of the countryside and all it provides.
Our education programme is continually evolving and we will offer archaeological digs (supported by the Canterbury Archaeological Trust). We have a variety of genuine pre Roman, Roman, Medieval and post Medieval objects, and an ‘all weather’ outdoor dig site. We also provide facilities for Greek, Egyptian, Viking and Stone Age Digs.
We offer exclusivity which makes us unique and we are open by appointment only.
The total cost of a visit is £200.00, based on a maximum of 30 children for up to four hours.
