Our community training allotment plot is based at Sparkmill off Flemingate in Beverley. The aim of this plot is to show children and families how to grow your own produce and eat it. It is ideal as an outdoor classroom, suitable for a full class or smaller groups, and is situated in a safe and enclosed site with locked gate access. Schools can use the allotment plot as an educational resource looking at how to grow vegetables, how to maintain them, how to harvest produce and how the produce can be made into healthy meals. Wildlife and biodiversity lessons can be arranged, with activities such as building a bug hotel and building bird and bat boxes. The plot is sited near a small lane which runs alongside and access onto the plot is via some steps with handrails. Refreshments can be arranged, and there are limited hand washing facilities. Please note, there are no toilet facilities on site.
