Hartshill School Farm

We have a mini-farm and small animal unit on site which we use for our GCSE and BTEC students but we are able to accommodate visits from others, such as primary schools, by discussion. We have hosted Easter chick mornings and more general visits from the entire primary range but we can cater for most groups of users with a bit of joint planning!

  • Coach parking
  • Covered space
  • Disabled toilets
  • Hand washing facilities
  • Toilets
  • Wheelchair access

Wheelchair access available to the farm enclosures and the classroom but not yet to the small animal unit. We are a school so have access to the normal facilities that you would expect.

Only cost would be cost to cover our teaching staff involved if the timing of your visit necessitated it (would be discussed at planning stage). Would be in the region of £25 per hour if cover is required.

What we can offer

  • Pre-visit information available
  • Provision of materials/equipment/livestock
  • Risk assessment
  • Tailored programmes

We have pigs, sheep, goats, chickens, ducks, quail and various small (pet) animals available to use- they are all used to large groups of children!

Other Accreditations

We are a secondary school so have all usual risk assessment etc measures in place. We are a Woodland Trust Gold Award school and RHS CFSG Level 3.
