Situated in the heart of Edinburgh at the foot of an ancient volcano and with our feet firmly rooted in the adventurous Earth and environmental sciences, Dynamic Earth reveals the amazing story of our planet Earth.
The extinct volcano of Arthurs Seat, its crags, rare flora and dominating presence provide a unique and accessible wild space to inspire and motivate pupils and teachers alike. Relevant, challenging and engaging curriculum-linked, guided outdoor activities include Fire and Ice telling the story of the amazing and violent geological history of Scotland through the rocks of Arthurs Seat; Nature Detectives, A Sensory Adventure and basic map reading and navigation skills activities.
Your learning experience is designed around the schools curriculum and is led by highly qualified science communication professionals and experienced outdoor leaders. Complementing any outdoor excursion is a programme of over 20 indoor workshops, a gallery experience facilitated by knowledgeable and professional gallery guides and our ShowDome screens the latest in Dome film productions.
As a charitable trust, our education programme for pupils from 3 to 18 years of age and our teacher professional development courses are core to our mission. Our workshops are independently inspected and highly recommended and we are accredited with the Council for Learning outside the Classroom.
