Jordan Castle Farm

Jordan Castle Farm

Visit an award winning environmentally friendly working farm with cattle and arable crops in the heart of Sherwood Forest. Jordan Castle Farm is a 270 acre mixed farm in the heart of Nottinghamshire. We have a 70 cow herd of polled pedigree Charolais suckler cows, calving in the Spring and Autumn. We grow wheat, barley and grass as part of our arable crops. The farm derives its name from our Scheduled Ancient Monument, a 'motte and bailey' fortified manor house 'Jordan Castle' which is now only visible as an earthwork. We have been involved in environmental conservation on the farm for over 30 years, including hedge planting and laying, cleaning ponds, renovating our 1860s farm orchard and renovating traditional farm buildings, creating a permissive access and planting wild flower meadows. As part of our new Countryside Stewardship Scheme we offer educational access visits. We also have 3 self catering holiday cottages on the farm.
