As this year’s All for Farm, Food for All national primary competition comes to an end, it’s a good moment to reflect on the enthusiasm, creativity and curiosity shown by schools across the country.
The competition invited Key Stage 2 classes to join live virtual farm tours and take on follow-up challenges in the classroom. Pupils explored how crops are grown, how farmers care for the environment, and what sustainable food production really means. It was a chance to connect the classroom to real-world farming and spark meaningful conversations about the future of food.
Teachers used the resources to link learning across science, geography, and beyond. New themes this year focused on climate-positive farming, sustainable food, and careers in agriculture, helping pupils explore the "why" behind the way we grow and eat food.
One school that really embraced the challenge was Saltney Ferry C.P. School, whose work stood out for its thoughtfulness and creativity. As winners, their pupils received a fully funded farm visit organised by LEAF Education and a Growbag MINI kit from Grow To School. It’s already being put to good use in their school garden, showing how learning can take root and continue to grow long after the competition ends.
“It is so important for our school and community giving them skills and experiences first hand of farming as a concept. We can apply biodiversity, sustainability skills and learning from the classroom direct outside. It is really important for our children to better understand where there food comes from and aspire to become farmers and be a part of farming in the future.” Mr Lloyd - Assistant Head Teacher
A big thank you to everyone who took part and brought such energy and imagination.

Grow To School:
We were delighted to support the All for Farm and Food for All Primary Competition by providing a Growbag Toolkit to the winning school. Huge congratulations to them!
At Grow to School CIC, we’re passionate about helping schools bring food education to life through real, hands-on experiences. The Growbag Toolkit is designed to make food growing accessible to every school, no matter the space or level of experience. It’s a powerful way to link classroom learning with sustainability, climate education, and wellbeing.
If you’re inspired to get your pupils growing, explore our free resources and activities at Grow to School and on the Countryside Classroom website. When children grow food themselves, they don’t just learn where it comes from, they see it happen in real time. They begin to understand the challenges of food production, the decisions farmers face, and how even small actions can help care for the natural world.
