Are you considering a farm visit for your class? Then our new Farms Visits Page will tell you everything you need to know to organise a fantastic, fun and unforgettable on-farm experience for your students.

Also check out some of the resources you can use to enthuse your students about farming and food production:

Ages 4- 6

  • Why not have some fun assembling these 3D model farm animals with this resource produced by LEAF Education.
  • Try this Farmyard Bingo game with your KS1 students and see if they can match up the images to the animals, simply print out the farmyard bingo images and cards and you are ready to play!
  • Learn about farm animals with this lesson plan and worksheets about cows, sheep, pigs and hens to be used during or after a farm visit.

Ages 7 - 11

  • Find out all the amazing things farmers produce with this Do farmers just Grow food? resource.
  • Have fun learning How to Make Butter with your students with this fantastic resource which explains how deceptively simple the process is.
  • Farmers in the UK produce a wide range of food, and AHDB has produced these amazing colourful Farming Food for You Posters to show life on the farm – how animals are reared and cared for, and how crops are grown and harvested. 

Ages 11 - 16

  • This brilliant range of resources from Food - A Fact of Life explains dairy farming and how milk is then processed into cheese. Resources include posters, videos, PowerPoint presentation and information sheets to download for the classroom or ideal preparation for a farm visit.
  • This Poultry Activities booklet developed by LEAF Education has been created with GCSE Geography students in mind and will help them investigate aspects of chicken meat production whilst giving them a chance to practise Geography skills exam style questions.
  • Have a look through this Practical Activities for farm Visits resource developed to offer support to farm educators, however the ideas presented will inform teachers of all the amazing opportunities to engage children in curriculum linked activities out on farm.
