LEAF Regional Consultants can provide suggestions for places to visit, especially farms, and can put teachers in touch with farmers who will go into school. Consultants also offers teacher training and student teacher training about how to use food, farming and the countryside in classroom teaching.
Gaina has a background in teaching and also has experience of working with farmers. She works with farmers hosting school visits and helps teachers and student teachers to incorporate farming and countryside topics into their teaching. She recently developed a primary science week designed to enable the whole school to study food and farming each afternoon. It included an explicit focus on ‘working scientifically.’ Gaina has a particular interest in the secondary curriculum looking at Business Studies and Economics.
If you have ideas you want to discuss or just need to find out how LEAF Education can help in the East of England region, please get in touch with Gaina. She'll be pleased to help.
