Integrated Pest Management 1

As Farmers strive to maximise their yields whilst reducing their reliance on chemicals, there is an increased awareness of how nature can help.

Use this PowerPoint in the classroom or use the activity outlined in the presentation out on the farm to help students understand the role that science plays in successfully growing crops on the farm.

Students must decide how to manage the nematode outbreak using the IPM toolkit. Whilst this activity works well as a stand alone session, it would work particularly well as a follow on session, when students have spent time learning about the soils on the farm, the crops that are grown and the farming calendar.
